The Croatina grape is a red grape variety and, as the name suggests, it is originally from Croatia and it is considered to share some similarities with the Dolcetto grape in the sense that it produces fruity and tannic wines that are well suited to bottle ageing. Croatina is also known as Bonarda in Roero, though it shares no relation with the Bonarda piemontese grape variety. This grape variety can be used in blends or to make a single varietal wine and it is commonly used in the production of Amarone.
