The Trebbiano giallo, like many other varieties of the Trebbiano family is widely planted in the central regions of Italy and the word giallo in the name, yellow, refers to the colors of its skins. The Trebbiano grape varieties are known in Italy since the Roman and their name comes from the latin word “trebula”, farm, and according to this interpretation, its name indicate wines made for home consumption. There are different variety of Trebbiano and often their names indicates its origin or where is widely cultivated, from Trebbiano d’Abruzzo to Trebbiano di Lugana to Trebbiano Toscano. Nowadays, the Trebbiamo is used in the blend of many wines, from Trebbiano d’Abruzzo to Lugana.
