Sambuca is a traditional and famous Italian liqueur loved and enjoyed everywhere, whether served at the end of the meal on its own, either very cold or with some ice cubes, or added to the coffee, to make the famous “caffe corretto”. The legend says that Sambuca was served with three coffee beans in the glass - health, happiness and prosperity -
This Sambuca, made with only four ingredients as the original recipes says: anise stars, neutral spirit, sugar and pure water, doesn’t use any artificial flavouring and it has an alcohol content of 40%. Many of the commercial and cheaper products have a much lower alcohol content and use artificial flavourings, and are often very sweet due to sugar being used to cover the lack of flavour.
In the last few years, due to the growth of the cocktails’ trend, and the quest for new ingredients, Sambuca has become a very hot and versatile ingredient that also feature in many Italian food recipes, from desserts to main courses, for ideas visit our
