Why we love it
The Montefalco Sagrantino is Umbria’s flagship red wine and this is a fantastic example, a faithful expression of the Montefalco area, a great, little know Italian red wine.
This Montefalco Sagrantino has a very complex nose with notes of black fruit and spices due to the wood ageing. In the mouth is full, powerful and elegant at the same time, tannins and a long finish.
Montefalco Sagrantino is an aged wine and as such, it needs to be oxygenated before being drunk. The 2015 was a great vintage for the area and this wine can be drunk now or kept in the cellar for a few more years, it pairs perfectly important and rich dishes, from stew to game or aged cheeses or can be sipped as a meditation wine over a conversation.
