Another wine from the Valtellina region, the single vineyard DOCG Valtellina Superiore Inferno (hell in Italian) where Inferno is the name of the vineyeard and 117 is the land register number.
Made with 100% Nebbiolo, manually harvested, very low yield, the wine is aged in new French barriques and bigger barrels, tonneaux and aged in the bottle for an additional 24 months before being released.
Even though this wine is very similar to the
Valtellina Supeiore Sassella in the wine making process, still, the result is very different. We often hear or read of the wine “terroir”and by tasting these two wines we can really appreciate what the different soil characteristics and microclimate due to the grape and wine.
This is a great Valtellina wine, a red wine with a complex nose, with black cherry and vanilla notes, in the palate is full, smooth, velvety and ageing potential.
Rivetti & Lauro is a dream come true. The Valtellina is a mountainous area with vineyards planted on terraces where everything is done manually, including harvesting, and in these mountains Rivetti & Lauro, two friends, decided to follow their dream and passion and making wine. The Nebbiolo is their main grape, Nebbiolo is a great grape that gives it best on these extreme climates, vinified in red and white, but are slowly introducing new grapes to be blended with the Nebbiolo to produce even more outstanding wines.
